Bag Of Rice Project #561 the Udosen Family, thanks to The Marlow Family for donating this 110 lb. bag of rice. The Sunday family live in Mbiaobong Itam a village in the southern part of Nigeria. When we drove into the compound we heard noise in the backyard of the house so we had to draw their attention and they came to meet us, they gave us a receptive welcome and we told them why we came to their compound. They were excited and shouted for joy they didn’t believe their eyes and they thought it was a prank, they did not believe that someone they didn’t know would donate a full bag of rice to them. The family live in a one-room apartment, the house is built with mud which is on the verge of collapsing the house lacks basic amenities they don’t have light and they defecate in the bush. The family is blessed with 5 kids. The Sunday family cooks with firewood. The use of firewood for cooking is not a sanitary practice since it exposes users to smoke, which shortens their life expectancy and harms their bodies. To get firewood for cooking, the Bassey treks to the bush. Mr Sunday is unemployed at the moment, he just lost his job recently and his wife sells pure water to fend for the family. In addition to thanking the donor, the family prayed to God to bless their labours and keep them from people who would steal their joy. The family was thankful but also upset because they didn’t have any food when we first met them. They prayed and waved as we drove away.
