Bag Of Rice Project #563 the Samuel Family, thanks to Julye Cox for donating this 110 lb. bag of rice.
We were given the Samuel family’s contact information by an acquaintance. When we first encountered the family, they were gathered in front of their house. The Samuel family resides in Mbiaobong Itam Village in the southern Nigerian state of Akwa Ibom. The family was shocked when we walked in and gave us a warm welcome. The family admitted that they were shocked to see us because they were not expecting any visitors. We told them our reason for visiting, and the family was shocked considering the hardship they are going through in the country and how government policies are not favoring them, considering the increase in PMS, which had led to an increase in the price of goods in the country. The family is blessed with 2 kids. The family lives in a one-room apartment.
The Samuel family reserves a room for cooking. The family has a gas and a stove, they said they were using gas to cook before, but as the price of filling a gas now skyrocketed, they had to switch to using a stove, which is cheaper for them. Mrs. Samuel sells in the market to fend for the family and take care of the children.
The sack of rice will go a long way towards feeding the family’s undernourished children; thus the Samuel family was thrilled and ecstatic. They thanked the donor and prayed that God would keep blessing them and provide them with opportunities. As we departed, Mrs Samuel waved and continued to pray. The family’s mood changed to one of happiness.

Bag Of Rice Project #562 the Victor Family, thanks to Dawn Coskren for donating this 110 lb. bag of rice.
We met the Victor family in Mbiaobong Itam village in Akwa Ibom, which is located in Akwa Ibom State, the southern part of Nigeria. When we went to the family compound, they were shocked when they saw us and asked if they could help us. We told them we came to see their family and that we had a sack of rice for them. The family was shocked that someone could gift them a bag of rice. They told us it has been hard for them since the new regime started, and they have found it very hard to feed. They said in their local dialect, abasi ami ani e odudu– this God is powerful. They asked us which government official sent us and we told them we were not sent by the government and that the rice was donated to them by someone. They did not believe it—that someone they did not know would donate a bag of rice for them. The Victor family is blessed with 5 kids and only 2 out of them are in school. This is because they do not have enough money to send the kids to school since they find it hard to feed them. The family stays in a one room apartment, and it is built with blocks; the house is not completed, and lizards crawl into the house because it doesn’t have a ceiling. The family makes use of a bathroom at the back of their house, and they are unable to get a modern bathroom.
Since they cannot obtain cooking gas, the family cooks with firewood. The family cooks with firewood. People are forced to use firewood even if it is unhealthy for them to cook with. The Victor family always struggles to make ends meet and has no job to do. Both the husband and wife do not have jobs. Their family has struggled to eat; obtaining a sack of rice was like winning a World Cup trophy. They do menial jobs to support their family.
The Victor family was pleased to meet us, even if they thought we had been sent by politicians. They were startled to learn that someone who did not know them from Adam could help when we explained it to them. They prayed that God would bless them in all they do and thanked the donors for making it possible for them to get a bag of rice during this joyous moment. Before we departed, the family expressed their genuine gratitude and was overjoyed.

Bag Of Rice Project #561 the Udosen Family, thanks to The Marlow Family for donating this 110 lb. bag of rice.
The Sunday family live in Mbiaobong Itam a village in the southern part of Nigeria. When we drove into the compound we heard noise in the backyard of the house so we had to draw their attention and they came to meet us, they gave us a receptive welcome and we told them why we came to their compound. They were excited and shouted for joy they didn’t believe their eyes and they thought it was a prank, they did not believe that someone they didn’t know would donate a full bag of rice to them. The family live in a one-room apartment, the house is built with mud which is on the verge of collapsing the house lacks basic amenities they don’t have light and they defecate in the bush. The family is blessed with 5 kids.
The Sunday family cooks with firewood. The use of firewood for cooking is not a sanitary practice since it exposes users to smoke, which shortens their life expectancy and harms their bodies. To get firewood for cooking, the Bassey treks to the bush. Mr Sunday is unemployed at the moment, he just lost his job recently and his wife sells pure water to fend for the family.
In addition to thanking the donor, the family prayed to God to bless their labours and keep them from people who would steal their joy. The family was thankful but also upset because they didn’t have any food when we first met them. They prayed and waved as we drove away.

Bag Of Rice Project #559 the Edet Family, thanks to TERRY SIMMONS for donating this 110 lb. bag of rice.
We met the Edet family in Mbiaobong Itam a village located in the southern part of Nigeria. The family was introduced to us by a friend. We drove into the compound and it was as if no one was around, we knocked, and a woman came out, she gave us a receptive welcome and offered us water to drink which we politely declined. We told her what brought us to her house and when she heard it she was surprised, she confessed that she couldn’t remember the last time she took rice because it had been so expensive lately. The family is blessed with 7 kids and they are all out of school because there is no money to train them. The family live in a mud house which is on the verge of collapsing, anytime rain falls the roof of the house is always leaking and they have to stand until the rain stops. They don’t have good water to drink and they don’t have electricity in the house, they have been living in darkness since they started staying in the house.
The Edet family cooks at the back of their house and firewood serves as their fuel, they are unable to afford cooking gas because it is expensive, and using firewood to cook is harmful to their health. Mrs. Edet is a widow and she does farming for a living, she does that to fend for the family, when we visited the children went to the stream to fetch water.
The family were excited as we gave them the bag of rice, they prayed for the donor and aid God will bless the work of their hand and increase them on every side. The family continued praying as we left, they waved at us and beamed a smile.
